  • Wilma's Transition Society offers safe, temporary emergency housing, support, and advocacy for women and their children. Our Transition House operates a seven-bedroom, 18-bed facility, offering a free, temporary safe haven for women and their children who are victims of family violence.

    Our first-stage housing facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    Services We Offer:

    • Access to our kitchen and laundry facility

    • Fully furnished bedrooms and shared bathrooms

    • Use of indoor and outdoor play areas

    • Access to clothing donations

    • Staffed 24 hours a day

    • One-on-one and group support through on-site support workers

    • Legal advocacy and court accompaniment

    • Referrals

    • Transportation for service-related appointments

    Maximum length of stay is 30 days.

  • Wilma's Transition Society Second Stage Housing Program is a housing complex for women and their children who have made the decision to break away from family violence and accept a more healthy, positive, and violence-free lifestyle. We are here to assist and support change. Our housing complex consists of 5 furnished self-contained apartments. There are mandatory programs for the women to participate in and structured learning and play groups for the children.

    Second Stage Housing Application

  • Our program will be opening for applicants within the next few months once construction is complete and we are ready to transition into our new building. Please check back soon for application openings

    Wilma's Transition Society Third Stage Housing Program is going to be a housing complex for women and their children who have made the decision to break away from family violence and accept a more healthy, positive, and violence-free lifestyle. Our housing complex consists of 9 self-contained apartments. This program is for women and children who are out of the crisis phase and ready to create positive changes moving forward. We have units available for women with and without children in this program.

    Services Offered:

    • Coin-operated laundry facilities

    • Outdoor children's play area

    • Optional programs

    • One-on-one counseling available

    • Complex has a monitored entrance and controlled exit

    • This is a goals-based program

    • The length of stay will be based on the goals to be completed with a minimum of a one-year stay to a maximum of a 3-year stay

    • Resident selection is by Transition House, other agency, or self-referral.

Programs

  • The Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) is aimed at helping people leaving the correctional or hospital system, women who are fleeing violence, youth (up to age 24), and people who identify as Indigenous who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with a one-time and short-term rental supplement. We can pay a portion of rent, damage deposit, utilities, and start-up costs. These are just some examples of the services we can provide with the Homeless Prevention Program. Please contact us for more information and options we offer through our program.

    We do not provide housing through the Homeless Prevention Program.

  • Wilma’s Transition Society Outreach Program is designed to help women in the community who are in need of extra support. Our services include advocating and offering support services to clients in the community with anything that they may need to improve their current situation.

    Housing Outreach Services

    Wilma's also offers Housing Outreach Services. These services are available to help find, achieve, and maintain permanent housing. We can offer services for housing needs such as aiding in finding immediate/emergency shelter, obtaining identification, transportation to housing-related appointments, referrals, advocacy, and more.

  • Wilma's offers counseling services to any men, women and children in the community in need. We provide all services at no cost and these services can include individual, child and youth, couples or family counseling needs
